A crochet pattern for a Whirligig Tote Bag from Nancy Brown-Designer. A pattern for a hexagonal shaped little carry-all.
How cool is this bag, just asking to be taken shopping, to the beach, or just about anywhere you need a little tote bag. The front and back hexagons each measure approximately 12" with a 2" gusset. A picot edging and a crochet button adds interest to the top opening and a V-Stitch shoulder strap with a picot edging ties it all together.
Size: Approximately 28" in circumference (or around) and 12" in depth with a 26" shoulder strap.
Skill level: Intermediate.
Materials: Tatamy Worsted (a worsted weight or size 4 yarn) from Kraemer Yarns.
Note: The original design was crocheted in Orly, a yarn that is no longer available (see the white bag in the photo array). Also please note that Tatamy Worsted is no longer being manufactured. You can use almost any worsted weight yarn and approximately 500 yards should complete the project.
Tools: U.S. size H crochet hook.
